IU Medical Brigade needs dollars and doctors
Item 1, dollars: Lafayette's Michelle Metcalf has been selected for Indiana University's Medical Brigade 2011.
Michelle Metcalf is from Lafayette, and now is a medical student at Indiana University, Bloomington. She has been selected to join the IU Medical Brigade team in Honduras for one week in March 2011. Michelle was chosen because she is exceptional, hard-working, and devoted to the service of others. Medical Brigade students must raise their own funds for the trip.
I am proud to support Michelle's participation in the 2011 mission to Honduras, and want to make sure you know about it so you'll have an opportunity to help. Here's how to help:
BOTTOM LINE: Make a Christmas contribution of $10, $20, @30 or more to encourage one of Lafayette's promising young people. Go to Michelle Metcalf's secure website and make a donation right now.
DETAILS: March 2011 IU Medical Brigade
Location: Honduras
When: March 13, 2011 12:00 AM - March 19, 2011 12:00 AM
How: Medical Brigade volunteers set up medical clinics in pre-identified communities to provide healthcare where access is limited. Each community receives a brigade every 3-4 months and between brigades the in-country team maintains relationships with the communities to provide follow-up and conducts community health worker trainings to empower local leaders to perpetuate a consistent level of healthcare. Item 2, doctors: Do you know a medical professional who would like to give one week of his or her time to go to Honduras and help? The IU Medical Brigade is looking for DOCTORS (M.D.s including Physicians Assist., and N.P.s) who will volunteer to help. Volunteer medical professionals are needed.
BOTTOM LINE: Send me the name of an adventurous medical professional who wants to make a difference, and I'll give the information to Michelle.
Your contribution of $10, $20, @30 or more will touch not only Michelle's life, but also change the lives of other students, medical professionals, and people in Honduras.

as a caregiver for my mother
taught me many lessons about the challenges facing retired Americans and
their families. I understand the limitations of Medicare and Medicaid,
the necessity of planning ahead for long-term care, and the emotions
that cause families to shy away from discussing this part of retirement
planning.
